Apostolic nuncio to Romania Francisco Javier Lozano wishes good luck to Traian Basescu in his new tenure.
Bucharest, Jan 20 / Agerpres / - Apostolic Nuncio to Romania Francisco Javier Lozano, who delivered a speech on Wednesday at the Cotroceni Palace (the Presidential Palace), on behalf of members of diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest, wished President Traian Basescu good luck in his new tenure.
'We want to express gratitude for our good cooperation, and for the Romanian authorities in general always willing to hear to whatever we had to say. (...) We have followed with great interest the efforts you have made to bring stability, prosperity and international prestige to this noble country. The latest presidential elections were a democratic event, which have proven the maturity of the Romanian citizens in exercising their political and civic rights,' said the apostolic nuncio to Romania, at the beginning of the annual meeting between President Basescu and the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Romania.
In his speech, the representative of the Holy See, who spoke in Romanian, English and French, said that the heads of diplomatic missions wish Romania to score significant achievements in 2010, and he also wished the country to have peace and stability in the region.
'We are glad we have this chance to present you our warmest wishes for a good and happy year 2010 and we would also like, with your help, to wish to all Romanian citizens a future full of accomplishments, civic understanding and social progress,' the official from Vatican said.
Francisco Javier Lozano also said that, as an official representatives of their countries, the ambassadors had the privilege to follow closely the evolution of politics in Romania, which he called a second home.
'We, all the ambassadors accredited in Romania, want to use this opportunity to drew attention to the common values of dialogue, cooperation, understanding and agreement,' said the apostolic nuncio.
Moreover, in his speech, he stressed the importance of Christian values and family and recalled some of the words of Pope Benedict XVI in a message delivered at the International Day of Peace, talking about the importance of adopting a development model based on the central feature of the human beings, promoting the common good, responsibility and the consciousness of a required change in the people's life styles.
