Romania: Food prices likely to rise 30-40%t due to fast food tax.
Bucharest, Feb 1 /Agerpres/ - The levying of a tax on food, called by other authorities the fast food tax, could lead to a food prices rise of 30-40 percent, announced on Monday Sorin Minea, president of Romalimenta employer union, within a public debate on the topic of the application of a tax on food and its effects upon the food product prices, food industry unemployment and population's health.

If the fast food tax is supposed to generate one billion euro for the budget, then the food prices should go up by 30-40 percent and this law project initiators could induce an artificial push for higher prices because the food producers can introduce in their business plan a new tax in the value of 30-40 percent reported to their output.
