Bucharest, Feb 9 /Agerpres/ - The General Prosecutor's Office has received on Tuesday the National Anti-corruption Department (DNA) request of extending the criminal prosecution of the former Minister of Youth and Sport Monica Iacob Ridzi.

It is up to Romania's General Prosecutor to forward this request to the Chamber of Deputies for its assent in this case file.

DNA prosecutors seeks the Parliament assent for extending the criminal probe against the former Minister of Youth and Sport Monica Iacob Ridzi in the case file referring to charges related to the organization of the Youth Day.

The prosecutors asked for criminal probe extension after discovering a new contract concluded by the Ministry of Youth and Sport, similar to those in which Ridzi is already under criminal pursuit, judiciary sources told AGERPRES.

The Chamber of Deputies approved on July 27 last year the DNA prosecutors' request to start the criminal probe against the former minister Monica Iacob Ridzi in the case file regarding the Youth Day organization.

According to the letter sent to the Chamber of Deputies leadership, the General prosecutor, Codruta Kovesi, asked the legislative forum to approve the start of the prosecution of the former Minister of Youth and Sport, Monica Iacob-Ridzi, for crimes of abuse of office against public interest, corruption related acts, incitement to violate computer system access by infringement of security measures and instigation to computer data deletion without right.
