Romania: Bucharest - Ilfov region's GDP per capita at 92.2%t of EU average.
Brussels, Feb 18 /Agerpres/ - Agerpres correspondent Tudor Martalogu reports: Of all the regions of Romania, Bucharest-Ilfov posted the highest GDP per capita (92.2 pct of the EU-27 average), followed by the Western Region (48.2 pct of the EU-27 average), the Center Region (42.2 pct of the EU average) and North-Western region (40.2 pct of the EU-27 average), the latter two forming macro-region 1, reveals a Eurostat report on the regional GDP levels given to publicity on Thursday.

The other two regions, South-East and South-Muntenia, posted a GDP per capita of 33.8 pct and 34.2 pct respectively, of the EU-27 average.

In 2007 Romania's North-East and South-West Oltenia regions had a GDP per capita of 26.6 pct and 32.7 pct, respectively, of the average across the European Union, appearing as some of the poorest regions in the Union.

In 2007 Romania's GDP per capita has been 41.6 pct of this indicator's EU-27 average.

Romania is divided into four macro-regions, each including two regions. The country's macro-regions with the related GDP per capita levels are as follows: macro-region 1 (North-West and Center regions) - 41.2 pct of the EU-27 average GDP per capita; macro-region 2 (North-Eastern and South Eastern regions) - 29.7 pct of the EU-27 average GDP per capita; macro-region 3 (South-Muntenia and Bucharest-Ilfov regions) - 57.6 pct of the EU-27 average GDP per capita; and macro-region 4 (South-West Oltenia and Western region) - 39.8 pct of the EU-27 average GDP per capita.
