Romanian troop is injured in Afghanistan.
Bucharest, Feb 19 /Agerpres/ - A troop of the Romanian 33rd Manoeuvre Battalion on mission in Afghanistan was injured at around 5 a.m. (Romanian time) on Friday, the National Defence Ministry announced.
NCO Eugen Manaila sustained a leg injury when his HMMWV (Humvee) vehicle rolled over a makeshift bomb while on a patrolling mission on A1 highway linking Kabul to Kandahar, some 20 km south-west of Qalat, Zabul province.
The Romanian military was urgently flown by a medical helicopter to the hospital at Lagman base, where he had surgery and later he was carried to Kandahar military hospital.
He is in a stable condition, the ministry said.
National Defence Minister Gabriel Oprea and Army chief of staff Admiral Gheorghe Marin closely watch how the troop's state of health develops, the release said. AGERPRES
