Romanian Gallovits advances to WTA Acapulco tournament semis.
Bucharest, Feb 26 /Agerpres / - Romanian tennis player Edina Gallovits has advanced to the semifinals of the $-220,000 women's WTA tournament in Acapulco, Mexico, as she defeated on Thursday Canada's Sharon Fichman 7-7, 6-2.

Gallovits will play seed no. 1 Venus Williams of the US, who beat Spain's Laura Pous Tio 4-6,6-3, 7-5.

Gallovits has thus recorded the best performance of the Romanian tennis school so far this year.

Romanian Sorana Cirstea and French Alize Cornet were defeated in the doubles quarterfinals by the main favourites Andrea Hlavackova/Lucie Hradecka of the Czeh Republic, 5-7, 7-5, 10-6. AGERPRES
