Romania: Cotnari SA wins Premium Berlin Gold in Berliner Wein Trophy 2010.
Bucharest, March 2 /Agerpres/ - Romanian Cotnari SA wine maker of Iasi County has won the Premium Belrin Gold medal at Berliner Wine Trophy 2010, one of the world's most prestigious wine contest. The much-coveted medal went to Cotnari SA for Grasa de Cotnari, a purely Romanian wine sort. The grand prize came one year after Cotnari SA won the Berlin Gold medals in the same contest for Francusa 2008 and Feteasca Alba 2008, the only two medals won by Romania back then. 'Two years ago Cotnari won a gold medal in Chisinau, the first in more than a decade won by a Romanian wine maker, and this year Cotnari SA is back in the elite of the world's wine world, reaching the highest level for a wine made of an autochthonous Romanian grape variety,' Cotnari SA Marketing Director Catalin Grecu said on Tuesday. In February 2010, the same company won seven gold medals and three silver medals at the Chisinau Wines & Spirits Contest in Moldova. The main star of the contest was Grasa de Cotnari, which ranked among the most awarded whites, but younger wines of 2008 and 2009 - such as Feteasca Alba, Blanc and Chateau - were also up to par. Cotnari SA has been representing Romania for many years now in the world's wine making elite, putting out wines of authentic Romanian grapes. AGERPRES [Read the article in ]
