Romania: Unemployment rate rises to 8.3%t in February.
Bucharest, March 8 /Agerpres/ - The unemployment rate was 8.3 in February, up from 8.1 percent in this January and from 4.9 percent in February of 2009, the National Employment Agency announced on Monday.

There were a total 762,375 jobless recorded at the county employment agencies, of whom 311,541 women.

The lowest joblessness rate was recorded in Bucharest at 2.4 percent, while the highest was in the southwestern Mehedinti county at 14.6 percent.

As many as 468,863 jobless registered nationwide get an unemployment benefit, while 293,512 do not get such benefit. Women's unemployment rate was 7.4 percent, the National Employment Agency said. AGERPRES
