Romania: President Traian Basescu arrives in Japan.
Tokyo, March 9 - AGERPRES Special correspondent Irinel Mica reports: President Traian Basescu and his wife Maria arrived in Tokyo on Tuesday, on the first day of the president's official visit to Japan, at the invitation of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito.

Early on Wednesday, Basescu will be greeted at the Imperial Palace by Their Imperial Majesties, the Emperor and Empress of Japan. Their Imperial Majesties will give an official lunch in the honour of President Basescu and his wife.

At noon, the Romanian leader will participate in a Romanian-Japanese business forum, and then he will meet the President of the House of Representatives Takahiro Yokomichi and the President of the House of Councillors Satsuki Eda.

The agenda of the visit also includes discussions with Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, as well as signing the official document Loan Agreement L/A regarding the loan for the Romanian underground.

In the evening, Premier Yukio Hatoyama and his wife will give a dinner in the honour of the Romanian president and of his wife.

On Thursday, Basescu will meet the representatives of the Keidanren Employers Federation. At the headquarters of the Romanian Embassy, President Basescu and his wife Maria will organize a reception where Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko will take part as well as the local officials.

The delegation that accompanies the president also comprises Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi and Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu, as well as presidential advisors Anca Ilinoiu and Alexandrina Gatej. AGERPRES
